Negative growth in Japan's ABS resin shipments

Sinochem News recently, the shipment statistics released by the Japan ABS Resin Industry Association showed that in October this year, the total shipment of ABS resin was 23,600 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 24%, and a negative growth for two consecutive months

Among them, Japan's domestic shipments were 15,900 tons, down 20% year-on-year; exports were 7,700 tons, down 32% year-on-year, both hitting the lowest records this year

The decrease in domestic shipments in Japan was mainly due to the decline in automobile production due to semiconductor shortages

From the perspective of domestic shipments in Japan, 5,400 tons of automotive resins, down 41% year-on-year, fell below 5,000 tons for the first time in 14 months; 1,900 tons of resins for electrical appliances, down 18% year-on-year, showing a double-digit negative growth for two consecutive months

In contrast, 1,800 tons of resin for general equipment, a year-on-year increase of 7%; 1,900 tons of resin for building materials and residential parts, a year-on-year increase of 6%; and 4,400 tons of resin for general cargo, a year-on-year increase of 5%, both positive growth
