Within 5 years from the beginning of this fiscal year, the agency will coordinate industry, academic, and government cooperation to support the research and development of common basic technologies from material research and development to battery design, trial production, characteristic evaluation and analysis.
NEDO said that with the development of automobile electrification, energy density has become an important factor restricting the development of lithium-ion batteries

At present, the battery component cost accounts for about 1/3 of the cost of the vehicle, and the cost is relatively high.
It is reported that the representative institution of the R&D project entrusted party is Kyoto University, the materials related parties include Asahi Kasei, Showa Denko, and Daikin Industries, the battery related parties are Panasonic, NEC, and the automobile related parties are Toyota, Nissan, and Honda Technical Research
