Orient Link has signed a cooperation agreement with Japan's NEC Group to build a MIST submarine cable system directly connecting Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and India
    .

According to reports, the 8,100-kilometer-long submarine cable system will have a design capacity of more than 216Tbps and is scheduled to be completed
in the third quarter of 2022.

The Asian region has experienced accelerated digital investment, driven by the growth of data centers, mobility, the adoption of 5G services, and digital platforms such as enterprise SNS, e-commerce, and cloud services, which have contributed to an increase
in data traffic between submarine cables.
MIST will further enhance and facilitate the expansion of much-needed communication networks in Asia, thereby improving network redundancy, ensuring highly reliable communications and expanding connectivity options
    in the Bay of Bengal.

Yoshio Sato, First Executive Officer of Orient Link, said, "Globally, India and Southeast Asia are the fastest growing economies in the world, and the construction of MIST fiber optic cables will provide our customers with a direct communication system
    to India.
This is not only needed for growing bandwidth demand in Southeast Asia, but also to help the company expand into India and other markets
