Editor | Xi tick is an important pathogen transmission vector.
The infectious viruses include forest encephalitis virus, Xinjiang hemorrhagic fever virus, fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus, Nairobi sheep disease virus and Alongshan virus.

On February 18, 2021, Professor Liu Quan of Foshan University of Science and Technology, Dean Wang Wei of Inner Mongolia Forestry General Hospital and Professor Qian Jun of Zhongshan Medical College of Sun Yat-Sen University and other research teams jointly published an article Identification of a new orthonairovirus associated in Nature Medicine with human febrile illness in China.

The study isolated and identified a new tick-borne virus-Songling virus (SGLV) from tick bite patients, and suggested that the virus infection may cause the patient to develop fever, headache and other clinical symptoms.

The researchers first performed high-throughput sequencing on the blood of a patient with unexplained fever after a tick bite and found that the patient was suspected of being infected with a new Bunia virus.

Subsequently, by isolating and cultivating the virus, and analyzing the whole genome sequence of the virus, it was found that the genome characteristics and morphological structure of the virus were similar to those of known viruses of the genus Neiro virus, but formed a separate phylogenetic tree.
    Branch.

Songling virus belongs to the Bunyavirus order Neiroviridae, a member of the genus Orneirovirus.
The genome includes three fragments of L, M, and S.
The sequence homology with known orthoneiroviruses is 46.
    5–65.
    7%.

Later, the researchers found through retrospective analysis that all patients involved in SGLV infection have a history of tick bites; the incubation period of the disease is about 6 days; the main clinical symptoms are headache, fever, depression, fatigue, and dizziness; some patients can be detected in vivo To specific antibodies.

In addition, the researchers tested the Ixodes and Haemophilus ticks in Northeast China and found that they were infected with SGLV, suggesting its importance in the spread of SGLV.

In summary, Chinese scholars have discovered a new Neiro virus, which is related to febrile diseases in Northeast China.

The results of the study indicate that Songling Virus (SGLV) may be the cause of a previously unknown febrile disease, and more research should be conducted to determine the geographic distribution of this disease outside its current recognition area.
