It was learned from CNOOC on August 8 that the methanation technology jointly developed by CNOOC Gas and Power Group Co.

According to reports, coal-based natural gas is a clean synthetic natural gas product obtained by gasification-purification-methanation of inferior coal.

In 2010, Gas & Power Group began to conduct research on coal-to-natural gas process technology and catalysts, and in 2013, cooperated with Southwest Research Institute to carry out joint research and development

"The methanation catalyst independently developed this time was successfully started up in Xinjiang Qinghua coal-to-natural gas plant.

It is reported that Gas & Power Group will take this technology industrial application as an opportunity to continue to promote the application of complete sets of methanation technology in Xinjiang Kingho Phase II and Phase III, and at the same time strengthen market promotion efforts to expand the application of methanation technology in coal chemical industry and renewable energy.
