A new report by energy solutions firm E4TheFuture and Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2) shows that the energy efficiency industry added more new jobs last year than any other sector across the country, and energy efficiency workers now outnumber primary and secondary school teachers and double the number employed in the fossil fuel industry

California leads the way in energy efficiency employment with 310,000 jobs, compared with 154,000 in Texas, 117,000 in New York and 112,000 in Florida
.
Construction and manufacturing jobs account for more than
70 percent of these jobs.
Employment in the energy efficiency sector is expected to grow by 9%
in 2018.
Steve Cowell, president of E4TheFuture, said: "We have long known that energy efficiency is a major source of employment, and conservative estimates now allow one in every 100 American adults to work
in energy efficiency.
Energy efficiency is also a key strategy to achieve several policy objectives, saving money, improving health, reducing carbon emissions, and creating local jobs
