According to foreign media reports, a new report released by SNS Telecom & IT predicts that VoLTE service revenue will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 30%
between 2018 and 2021.
According to the report, VoLTE service revenue is expected to exceed $280 billion
by 2021.
While traditional voice services will account for 84 percent of this $280 billion in revenue, the remaining 16 percent will be generated
by voice-based IoT applications as well as video calls and other ancillary services.
While the vast majority of VoLTE growth is expected to come from smartphones, VoLTE is increasingly being incorporated into other end devices such as IoT modules and wearables such as
smartwatches.
By the end of the second quarter of 2018, more than 140 mobile operators worldwide had launched commercial VoLTE services
.
VoLTE brings many benefits to operators, including the ability to recultivate the 2G/3G spectrum, as well as providing users with a differentiated service experience through HD voice and HD video telephony
