On March 15, Mitsui Chemicals announced that the company plans to close the purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in Otake Iwakuni, Japan in August 2023

According to reports, Mitsui Chemicals began to produce PTA in its Iwakuni Dazhu factory in 1958, with a maximum annual output of 750,000 tons

In its long-term business plan for 2030, Mitsui Chemicals positioned PTA as one of the restructuring businesses in the Basic & Green Materials business unit
