Minesto has completed the installation of a microgrid system buoy that will be used in the company's first tidal energy project
in Holyhead Deep, Wales.
The offshore buoy, which uses a three-anchor moored submarine buoy, can be used in extreme conditions at sea and will provide auxiliary power and communications
for Minesto's DG500 marine energy power plant.
It is generated by the DG500 device and will act as a floating microgrid system that facilitates grid compatibility testing
by processing and analyzing electricity.
MGS buoys were designed and built
by Malin Group in Glasgow.
The Minesto Offshore Operations team was responsible for towing the buoys to the coast
of North Wales.
