In order to meet the predictable market demand, Milliken is currently expanding the production base of Zebra-chem in Germany, which was acquired in March last year
.
Zebra-chem is a specialty composites and chemicals company specializing in the production of additives and blowing agents for polyolefins, PVC and engineering thermoplastics
.
The expansion allows Milliken to increase the capacity of the acquired Zebra-chem company's Bad Bentheim plant by 60% by the end of the year
.
Milliken will install new manufacturing equipment and hire additional staff at the facility, which will be renamed "White Birch I.
" In addition, Milliken will build a new warehouse called "White Birch II" near the factory
.
For more than a century, Milliken has been at the forefront of sustainable development
.
The company's tradition of naming production bases after trees fully reflects the company's core values
.
“We have seen very strong demand in several of the end markets where these value-added products are being delivered
.
Customers are also looking to us to broaden our product offerings
,” said Tugce Asici-van Houselt, Sales Manager at Milliken.
“Acquisitions The subsequent production site will continue to serve the global market, with a focus on the EMEA region
.
"
The viscosity modifiers and performance modifiers produced at this facility can be used to improve the melt flow of recycled polypropylene (PP) resins with little or no effect on the physical properties of the resin, thus, without affecting the overall product In the case of performance, processors and brands can use more recycled materials for production
.
“Miliken is recognized in the market for its sustainable innovations
,” said Wim Van de Velde, global vice president of Milliken’s Plastic Additives business.
The plan is to further improve the production process and increase production capacity using recycled plastics as raw materials
.
This expansion also sends a signal that the market has a clear demand for this type of product
.
”
In addition, the plant produces a wide range of solid concentrates as chemical blowing agents that can be used in foamed thermoplastic production processes
.
These blowing agents can be lightweight without compromising mechanical properties, while also providing better thermal and acoustic insulation, and are suitable for materials such as PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene
.
Processors can use these products in both extrusion and injection-molded foam processing
.
Milliken & Company said that the plan to fully integrate the acquired business within this year is actively advancing
.
