According to Platts Energy News on September 21 Mexico City, Mexico's oil and gas regulator Mexico's National Oil and Gas Administration (CNH) said in a technical document on the state of Mexico's natural gas market on Thursday that in order to restore domestic natural gas production, CNH recently proposed the creation of a state-owned upstream company
specializing in natural gas production.
CNH Commissioner Hector Moreira said Thursday evening at the technical paper launch that the newly created company will receive all non-associated gas areas
currently controlled by Mexican Petronas (Pemex).
He added that the new company will also receive all domestic gas gathering and transportation infrastructure, as well as natural gas processing facilities
.
Moreira said: "The oil industry and the gas industry are very different
.
If Pemex is told it must focus on profitability, then Pemex should invest its financial resources in more profitable oil projects rather than natural gas
