Recently, Australia's Meridian Energy signed a series of renewable energy agreements, including a 200MW photovoltaic project
with French independent power company Total Eren.
The facility, which will be the first phase of the Kiamal Solar Farm, will be developed by Total Eren in the town of Dark Clouds in northwest Victoria, the company's first investment
in Australia.
The project is currently in an advanced development phase and is expected to be completed by mid-2019, with part of the project under contract with Meridian Energy Australia
.
Meridian Energy also signed an agreement with Total Eren to purchase three hydroelectric plants from Trust power for $134 million, while PPA transactions
for wind farms in Pyramul and Woorndoo.
These renewable energy projects will increase power generation by 749 GWh, increasing Meridian's annual renewable energy generation to approximately 1,300 GWh
.
The CEO of Meridian Energy Australia and Powershop Australia said: "Meridian is delighted to add hydro, wind and solar capacity
to our existing wind power.
These agreements expand our portfolio of 100% renewable energy generation, enabling us to support our growing customer base and drive demand for large-scale renewable energy in Australia
