According to reports, the project is part of the West Africa Regional Communications Infrastructure Program (WARCIP), with financing support
from the World Bank.
The construction of this fiber optic network, which includes urban networks and improved international network connectivity, specifically includes Nouakchott-Atar-Choum (555 km), Rosso-Boghe-Kaedi-Selibabi-Kiffa (749 km) and Aioun-Nema (288 km), which began deployment
in 2018.
