The Ethiopian government and the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Corporation (Masdar) are studying the possibility
of developing a 500 MW solar project and associated grid infrastructure.
Earlier this month, Masdar signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ethiopian government during Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's visit to the United Arab Emirates to set out plans
for cooperation between the two sides.
Masdar CEO Mohammed Jamel al-Ramahi said Ethiopia has great potential
in solar and wind energy development.
It is reported that Masdar will build 300 MW of solar power capacity
in the first phase of the project.
