LyondellBasell and Neste have signed a long-term commercial agreement under which LyondellBasell will obtain renewable feedstocks from 100% of Neste's bio-waste and residual oils
.
LyondellBasell will process the Neste recycled feedstock through its cracker at its Wessling plant in Germany
.
These products will be used in the production of polymers and sold under the new brand name
.
Richard Roudeix, Senior Vice President, Olefins and Polyolefins, Europe, Middle East, Africa and India, LyondellBasell, said: "We are very pleased to be working with Neste to bring our customers one step closer to creating more sustainable end products
.
"
"Back in 2019, the two companies collaborated to develop the world's first commercial-scale bio-based polypropylene and bio-based polyethylene," said Mercedes Alonso, executive vice president of renewable polymers and chemicals at Neste.
And verifying its renewable content, we've made history together
.
I'm very much looking forward to reaching the next industry milestone together
.
"
This collaboration will contribute to the development of more sustainable polymer and chemical solutions for the European market by ensuring continuity of supply on a major industrial scale
.
LyondellBasell launched the Circulen range in April 2021 following ISCC PLUS certification for European polymer plants
.
The new products demonstrate the company’s multi-pronged approach to achieving its sustainability goals: Circulen’s new product line consists of polymers linked to renewable feedstocks; polymers made from mechanically recycled materials, sold under the brand CirculenRecover, are synonymous with advanced (molecular) ) recovery of the relevant polymer is called CirculenRecover
