London officially opens its new £1 billion electric highway
National Grid's £1 billion London Power Tunnel project rerouted 200km of high-voltage power cables
within the capital's 32km tunnel network.
The electric tunnel runs from Hackney in the east to Willesden in the west and from Kensar Green to Wimbledon
in the south.
The seven-year project will provide around 20% of London's growing electricity needs

Greg Clark, the UK's Minister for Business and Energy, said: "This vital infrastructure will help increase productivity by reducing the number of roadworks that need to be repaired and provide a safe and reliable power supply
for the future.
