According to a report from Gas World Network on April 25, 2022, German industrial gas giant Linde Group said on April 25 that it will recover helium gas produced at the production plant of Freeport LNG in Texas.
The German industrial gas giant confirmed the plans on April 25, saying its new processing plant will purify and liquefy helium recovered from the Freeport LNG plant, thereby gaining an additional source of liquid helium
The Linde Group said the project is expected to start in 2024 and provide nearly 200 million cubic feet of helium to its supply portfolio
"Through the unique application of Linde's proven technology, we are able to efficiently capture helium from the Freeport LNG plant in the US," said Odessa Mann, General Manager of Helium and Noble Gases at The Linde Group
"By partnering with Freeport LNG, The Linde Group will gain access to a new source of helium in the United States to help meet growing domestic demand," Mann said
Alan Neuse, Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer, Freeport LNG, added: "Through our partnership with The Linde Group, we have an opportunity to complement our LNG business and strengthen domestic helium supplies
Helium is believed to be supplied to customers in a variety of end markets, including aerospace, electronics, healthcare and manufacturing
