Recently, a low-cost new energy battery material, limonite, has been successfully developed, which provides a new way
for natural minerals to be used in advanced energy applications.
According to reports, as a new type of solid-state battery material, limonite has more advantages
in cost and performance.
The current market price is $80 per tonne, while the market price for zirconium dioxide, a conventional solid oxide fuel, is about $
100 per kilogram.
At the same time, as a new electrolyte material, the assembled solid oxide fuel cell has high power output
.
Solid oxide fuel cell is an efficient and environmentally friendly energy conversion technology, and its commercial application has always been the goal
of researchers.
However, due to the high cost, commercial application has not yet been realized
.
This was developed by Associate Professor Wu Yan of the School of Materials and Chemistry of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and Professor Zhu Bin of Hubei University, and the research group of Wu Yan and Zhu Bin carried out a large number of screening and in-depth research on natural minerals, and found and developed high-grade Laiwu limonite, which obtained properties
comparable to synthetic battery materials.
As a new energy battery material, it can be used for power supply
in distributed power stations, emergency power supplies, and transportation.
The research results of new energy battery materials were recently published in the international famous academic journal "Advanced Functional Materials" in the field of functional materials, which was founded in 2001 and published
by a German publishing house.
