Micro Plastic, generally refers to plastic particles with a diameter of less than 5 mm, is a new type of carrier that causes pollution.
In 200 years, the concept of microplastics was put forward, and the pollution of microplastics in ecosystems such as oceans and soils and their environmental risks have gradually attracted attention.
In the process of agricultural production, due to the use of agricultural mulch, microplastics are widely present in farmland, which may have varying degrees of impact on the physical and chemical properties of soil, microbial communities, and plant growth.
In order to better explore the important role of microplastics in the growth of crop roots, the Mountain Future Research Center of the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in conjunction with China Agricultural University, the University of Göttingen in Germany, and the University of Bangor in the United Kingdom, are commonly used in The biodegradable bioplastic produced by mulching film-hydroxybutyric acid and hydroxyvaleric acid copolymer (PHBV) is the research object, combined with zymography and high-throughput sequencing technology, systematically studied PHBV's effects on plant rhizosphere and non-rhizosphere soil microorganisms.
The influence of community structure and function.
Studies have found that plant rhizosphere soil microorganisms can use PHBV as a carbon source, thereby increasing the growth rate of specific microorganisms, making microbial biomass more active in microplastic soil than in non-rhizosphere soil.
In addition, the presence of PHA in the soil also changed the structure of soil bacterial communities at different taxonomic levels, and increased the activity of related functional enzymes in the rhizosphere of plants.
The related research results are titled The microplastisphere: biodegradable microplastics addition alters soil microbial community structure and function, published in Soil Biology and Biochemistry.
Doctoral student Zhou Jie at the University of Göttingen in Germany and Gui Heng, an assistant researcher at the Mountain Center of the Kunming Institute of Botany, are the co-first authors of the paper.
The research work was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
