To close the performance gap between thermoplastic elastomers and conventional elastomer compounds, KRAIBURG TPE has launched a new advanced technology platform specifically for thermoplastic elastomer blends (TE.
Combined with selected elastomers, this compound has the same characteristics as elastomers while maintaining the excellent processability of TP.
Thermoplastic elastomer manufacturers have struggled to find ways to extend the performance of classic elastome.
“In order to close the performance gap between existing TPEs and elastomers, especially with regard to heat resistance, we are taking a close application and customer focus,” says KRAIBURG TPE® Business Development Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Director Dirk Butschkau sa.
As a result of hard work, KRAIBURG TPE has finally developed a "custom-process" TEH compound that is fully cross-linked with the elastomer compone.
Compared to traditional elastomer blends, it allows injection molding machines to process technical thermoplastics as economically as ev.
The new technology platform offers advanced TPE materials with a Shore A hardness range of 55 to 80, with excellent optimized properties due to the construction of two materials, an elastomer and a thermoplast.
In addition to excellent mechanical properties, these materials have continuous operating temperatures up to 150°C, and excellent chemical resistance to greases, lubricants and fue.
The thermoplastic processability of TEH compounds can reduce molding time by up to 80% at the same wall thickness and shot compared to conventional elastome.
Processes and properties are specific to components of engine covers, oil sump, fuel filler caps and oil caps, as well as cooling and/or temperature control uni.
Other suitable examples are sound-absorbing and damping components in gearboxes, engines and pumps, as well as connectors, threaded cable glands and fastene.
After a long period of development and various basic research investigations, KRAIBURG TPE sees great potential to further develop this new technology which has just been introduced to the mark.
