Ukraine's National Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation recently said it plans to build a solar panel plant
with an annual output of 400 megawatts in the Vinnytsia region of central and western Ukraine.
Construction will take place in two phases of 200 MW each, with the second phase due to be completed
in 2019.
The company implementing the project is Ukraine's KNESS Group, which has so far installed 33 solar power plants across the country, totaling 225 MW
.
According to the announcement, the plant's annual output is estimated at $180 million and is expected to create 400 jobs
.
Ukraine's National Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation noted that green energy producers using local equipment can increase the tax rate by 10%.
Sergiy Savchuk, head of the agency, said the project will contribute not only to the country's solar industry, but also to the
region's economy.
Another solar panel manufacturing plant
was launched this year in Energodar, in the Zaporizhia region.
