Kenya has reportedly announced the upcoming Lake Turkana wind power project
.
The project, which will start at the end of this month, almost doubled the overall project cost after more than 18 months of delays, to 28 billion shillings, up from 15 billion shillings
.
Before President Uhuru Kenyatta commissioned the plant to production, Energy Cabinet Minister Charles Keter conducted a final simulation
of the power plant's project.
He promised that electricity bills would be reduced
once the wind farm was officially put into operation.
He explained, "Due to the increase in fuel costs due to the new fuel VAT, the completion of this wind power project has helped us to reduce the use of fossil fuels
such as diesel.
