Jordan's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Hala Zawati recently said that investment in renewable energy in the country will increase to $4 billion
by 2020.
With the right cross-border grid infrastructure, Jordan could export renewable energy
to Europe by 2020.
Hala Zawati said Jordan is poised to become Europe's renewable energy exporter thanks to its success in attracting the number of foreign investments in the sector, which is expected to reach $4 billion
by 2020.
According to reports, Jordan only began to develop renewable energy in 2016, but by the end of 2018, the contribution rate of renewable energy to the national grid will reach 10%, and it is expected to increase to 20% by 2020
.
Not only that, by 2021, Jordan's top ten renewable energy development projects will generate 2,700 megawatts of electricity, of which 715 megawatts will come from wind resources
.
Jordan is currently working to deploy the country's first energy storage project to store renewable energy to make it more cost-efficient, and the energy storage project is expected to start work
next year.
