Jordanian Energy Minister Hala Zawati recently laid the foundation stone for a 52MW solar project developed by a consortium between AES of the
United States, Mitsui Corporation of Japan and Nebras Power of Qatar in Al-Madounah in Amman in the eastern United States.
The $50 million AM Solar project, on a build, own, operate (BOO) basis, is expected to connect to the NEPCO grid in 2019 and generate approximately 77GWh
of electricity per year.
Jordanian Minister Zawati said at the ceremony that wind and solar now occupy 800MW of capacity
