On May 26, the Jordanian government announced that it would work with Russia to build a small modular nuclear reactor to replace the $10 billion nuclear power plant agreement
signed by the Jordanian Atomic Energy Commission and Rosatom in 2015.
It is understood that in 2015, Jordan signed an agreement with Rosatom to build a 10 billion MW nuclear power plant with a total capacity of 2,000 MW
.
Under the agreement, the construction of a two-unit power plant
in northern Amra is planned for the end of 2022.

Khaled Toukan, chairman of the Jordanian Atomic Energy Commission, pointed out that for many years, we have been working closely with Rosatom, and we will maintain this friendly cooperation in various fields in the future; On the basis of research and cooperation at large nuclear power plants, the government decided to strengthen practical cooperation
with Russia in the field of small modular nuclear reactors.
