Recently, Yokohama Rubber Company of Japan announced that it has produced butadiene products from biomass in a joint research project with Zeon Chemicals and Japan's National Research and Development Agency.

According to reports, the joint research project has also successfully used biomass butadiene to produce polybutadiene rubber.
