The Italian government has announced a 2 billion euro investment plan to ensure full coverage
of 5G networks by 2026.

through a series of tenders.
In response to a survey by Infratel, operators said they currently have 66,698 base stations deployed, a number that will increase to 73,931 by 2026
.
Infratel said that by 2026, equipment at 11,352 sites will not be connected to fiber backhaul, and all sites will be upgraded by signing contracts to ensure nationwide 5G coverage
