Italy's plan to levy a 450-euro ($483)-a-ton tax on virgin plastic material is on hold until next year as it tries to protect its economy amid the coronavirus outbreak

Originally scheduled to apply to all untreated plastics (excluding recycled plastics and compostable bioplastics) from July 1, the tax has now been postponed until 2021
