Evonik has officially opened the world's first plant dedicated to the production of methionine sources for shrimp and other crustacean aquatic animals
.
Located in Antwerp, Belgium, the plant is a dipeptide consisting of two DL-methionine molecules, under the brand name AQUAVI?Met-Met, which will be used as a feed additive for aquatic feed and is expected to be launched
in mid-2016.

Dr.
Reiner Beste, Chairman of the Board of Evonik Nutrition & Consumer Chemicals GmbH, said: "AQUAVI Met-Met will expand our range of amino acids for animal nutrition, another specialty chemical
that brings high added value to our customers.
This will further strengthen our leading position
in the market and technology.
