The EU Regulation on the Import and Export of Hazardous Chemicals is implemented
Since 1 March, the EU regulation on the import and export of hazardous chemicals, the Prior Informed Consent Regulation (EU) 649/2012, also known as the PIC Regulation, has been in force
.
The PIC Regulation is mainly used to regulate the import and export of hazardous chemicals between the EU and
third countries.
According to the Regulation, the exporting country can only export
hazardous chemicals with the knowledge of the receiving country.
In some cases, "explicit consent"
from the importing country is required.
The Regulation aims to promote responsible sharing and cooperation on the import and export of hazardous chemicals, as well as to promote human health and environmental protection
by providing receiving countries with information on the storage, use, transport and disposal of such chemicals.
