WACKER offers hardness-adjustable silicone rubber for orthopedics
At the European Medical Device Design & Technology Exhibition 2013, Wacker presented a new silicone rubber SILPURAN?2410 A/B
for orthopedics and prosthetics that can be adjusted according to the needs of the German chemical company Wacker.
SILPURAN?2410 A/B is an additive cross-linked product consisting of
two components, A and B.
Usually, the two components A and B are mixed
in a ratio of 1:1.
According to ASTM 2240-00, vulcanized rubber has a hardness of 50 on the Shore 00
scale.
The hardness of this silicone elasticity can be adjusted to a certain extent by changing the mixing ratio of components: increasing the proportion of B components, the vulcanized rubber will become harder overall; Increase the proportion of component A, and the vulcanized rubber will become softer
.
SILPURAN?2410 A/B has a low viscosity and can be cast into forming, making it particularly suitable for manual or semi-automated processing
.
At higher temperatures, it is able to crosslink quickly and cures without by-products
.
After crosslinking, SILPURAN?2410 A/B generates highly elastic, translucent elastomers with breathability, damping and skin compatibility, soft and comfortable, harmless to the human body, and can be used in the production of low-modulus orthopedic products
such as insoles, heel pads, support pads, orthotics and prosthetic pads.
Like other products in the SILPURAN range, SILPURAN® 2410 A/B is free of organic plasticizers and stabilizers and has been tested according to ISO 10993 and USP Class VI to prove biocompatible
.
In addition, the vulcanizates produced by SILPURAN?2410 A/B can be combined and processed regardless of type, as can vulcanizates with different shore
hardnesses.
With SILPURAN?2410 A/B, manufacturers of small batches can flexibly adjust the hardness of their products according to their specific needs, and can produce different specifications of products with only one silicone raw material, which not only saves raw material costs, but also improves production efficiency
