Yara and BASF jointly open a world-class ammonia plant on April 11, Yara International of Norway and BASF opened
    a new world-scale ammonia plant
    in Freeport, Texas, USA.
The new $600 million plant will be located at BASF's Freeport plant with an annual capacity of 750,000 metric tons
    .
Yara will sell ammonia to the industrial and agricultural sectors in North America, and BASF will produce polyamide 6
    from ammonia.
To support the new plant, Yara established an ammonia storage site
    in Port Freeport.
The plant's long-term hydrogen and nitrogen supply agreement with Praxair and low natural gas prices in North America have increased the project's feedstock cost advantage
    .
