AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals has recently expanded its Kromasil® silicone filler product offering to better support critical aspects of
the drug development process.
Kromasil® products are widely used in the pharmaceutical, chemical, food safety, clinical and environmental industries, and play an important role in insulin purification, so they are of great
significance to diabetic patients.
The new Kromasil® product line addresses an emerging green drug development technology, supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC), which provides a new separation mechanism for the separation of multiple compounds.
At the same time, it can reduce costs, shorten time to market, and because carbon dioxide is used instead of organic solvents, it is more environmentally friendly and economical
.
This new product line addresses the current needs of
the supercritical fluid chromatography market.
Mattias Bengtsson, Head of Kromasil's Fine Chemistry Division, said: "The pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries are increasingly applying new compounds such as peptides and synthetic molecules, and building on the successful launch of the supercritical fluid chromatography platform in 2015, we are now able to offer new options
for extracting and purifying more active ingredients for pharmaceutical use.
" This will not only benefit our customers, but will ultimately contribute
to improving treatment and quality of life.
