Sumitomo Rubber plans to expand tire production capacity at its South Africa plant A few days ago, Japan's Sumitomo Rubber Industries said it plans to increase truck and bus (TBR) radial tire production capacity
at its Leadsmith plant in South Africa to meet growing demand
in the African market.

The plant was acquired by Sumitomo Rubber from India's Apollo Tire Company in 2013 and is operated
by Sumitomo Rubber South Africa Limited.
The company plans to invest USD 55 million to increase TBR tire production facilities, with the new capacity scheduled to start operations
in mid-2018.
Sumitomo Rubber said that this will help the company strengthen its tire sales business in Africa and accelerate the group's global growth and development pace
