Borealis has
started producing polypropylene (PP)
from renewable raw materials at its production plants in Carlo and Bellingen, Belgium.
This is the first time that Borealis has replaced fossil fuels
with renewable feedstocks in a large-scale commercial PP production process.
Borealis' sustainable production company EverMinds is working closely with
upstream and downstream value chain partners such as Nestle and Henkel.
After Nestlé uses its proprietary NEXBTL technology to produce renewable propane, it is sold to a propane dehydrogenation plant north of Kahlo, converted to renewable propylene, and then converted to renewable PP
at the Carlo and Bellingen plants.
