Recently, Casarte, an international home appliance brand under Haier Group, launched a Tianxi air conditioner using the latest "zone air supply" technology, and its high-end customized version of the shell is made
of Covestro continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite material (CFRTP).
As a modern, cost-effective and easy-to-form thermoplastic composite, continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites are a game-changer that opens up entirely new applications and user experiences
.
Continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites are made
using ultra-thin carbon fiber unidirectional tape.
These unidirectional tapes can be laminated to form sheets at specific angles, so they can be customized
to specific performance criteria.
The unidirectional strip is oriented to form a specific strength in its longitudinal direction, resulting in a thin, hard sheet that resembles metal in appearance and has the flexibility
of a thermoplastic.
The continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite material makes the air conditioner present a high-grade metallic texture, smooth and beautiful appearance, highlighting the artistic sense
of design.
David Hartmann, Co-CEO of CFRTP at Covestro, said: "This not only marks a key step for continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites to the home appliance industry, but also offers designers a new range of high-grade materials and exciting design possibilities.
