The new anion exchange membrane was successfully developed
Recently, researchers from the State Key Laboratory of Internal Combustion Engine Combustion, Tianjin University, successfully developed a new oriented ferrocene anion exchange membrane
.
This anion exchange membrane has ion transport channels arranged in the direction of the transmission plane of the membrane, which improves the power output
of the anion exchange membrane fuel cell.
In addition, it has excellent thermal, alkali and redox stability, and can be used
for a long time under harsh battery operating conditions.
The results of the study were published in the international academic journal Nature Energy on February 14
.
The results show that the structure of the permeable plane orientation and the mixed valence metallocene chemical structure are an effective method to optimize the performance of anion exchange membranes, and are expected to surpass the traditional phase separation strategy
.
Magnetic field-induced mixed valence states exhibit exceptional base and redox stability, which is not possible under normal conditions
.
Because anion exchange membranes can be used in fuel cells, carbon dioxide and water electrolysis, the materials developed in this work have promising
applications in multiple fields of renewable and clean energy.
In addition, in other areas where directed mass transfer is required, including battery separators and reverse osmosis membranes, significant performance improvements
can be expected if oriented transport channel structures can be constructed.
