LANXESS acquires U.
S.
specialty chemicals manufacturer
On February 14, Lanxess announced the signing of an agreement to acquire US peer Emerald Kalama Chemical, a transaction still subject to approval from the relevant authorities and expected to close
in the second half of 2021.
Emerald Kalama has an enterprise value of US$1.
075 billion, and after deducting debt and other items, the purchase price is approximately US$1.
04 billion (867 million euros, about 6.
7 billion yuan).
It is reported that 75% of Emerald Kalama's total turnover comes from the consumer sector, including preservatives, spices and flavors for food, household and cosmetics, as well as products
for animal nutrition.
The remaining 25 percent of sales came from specialty chemicals for industrial use, including the plastics and adhesives industries
