WACKER will be presenting a new pyrogenic silica
called HDK®H21 for the first time at the European Coatings Show 2019.
This white amorphous powder with high purity, low density and large specific surface area has been developed to regulate the flow of polar adhesive systems
.
The product is extremely hydrophobic, but mixes quickly and efficiently with polar adhesives; Due to its excellent rheological properties in epoxide-based, vinyl ester-based and polyurethane-based adhesives, it can be used to formulate anti-sagging products, including structural adhesives
for many industrial applications.
The test results show that HDK®H21 mixes much faster with adhesive formulations than other hydrophobic products, especially in polar systems, where it has excellent rheological properties and stronger efficacy
than other hydrophobic pyrogenic silicas.
Specifically, HDK®H21 imparts excellent shear thinning properties to polar fluids, enabling rapid application of adhesives and repeatable and flawless bonding
.
In addition, the product can extend the storage life of the active components of the adhesive and prevent filler deposition; Due to its hydrophobic properties, this pyrogenic silica does not interact
with the adhesive matrix.
