LANXESS and chemical logistics service company TALKE recently carried out a road test
of truck tires.
T?V Rheinland, the world's leading independent technical service organization, audits the entire test process and documents and certifies all test results
.
In August ~ October, two 40-ton trucks of the same structure of TALKE drove 30 times
on the same route from Huerth in Germany to Loos in France.
Each round trip is about 650 kilometers, of which 635 kilometers are highways
.
During the test, the driving, load and refueling conditions of the two trucks were exactly the same
.
After the test, the two trucks traveled a total of 40,000 kilometers
.
To ensure that the fuel consumption of the test vehicles was similar, the two 40-ton trucks set off using the same EU Grade B "green tyres"
.
In the middle of the test, one of the trucks was switched to Euro-calibrated Class D tyres
.
The result of the test was that the truck with "green" B-class tires consumed 25.
4 litres of fuel per 100 kilometers, which was 2.
36 litres
less than another truck with D-class tires.
This equates to fuel savings of 8.
5
%.
In addition, trucks with B-tire significantly reduce CO2 emissions by 700 kg per 10,000 kilometers
.
This test proved that commercial vehicles can achieve significant savings
with high-quality tires with low rolling resistance.
"Green tires" not only reduce operating costs very effectively, but also make an important contribution
to protecting the environment.
