Issue 48/2013 - Two major automotive companies are approved to use PPG industrial varnish products

PPG Industries' automotive refinish division's clearcoat products have recently been licensed
by two of the world's largest automotive companies.

Ford's approved varnishes include Deltron® DC2000 Ultra Fast Dry Varnish, NEXA AUTOCOLOR P190-6800 HS Express Varnish, and Envirobase® High Performance EC800 Ultra Fast 2.

1 VOC quick-drying varnish designed for use with the AQUABASE® Plus waterborne refinish system

The EC800 Ultra Fast 2.
1 clearcoat is an important part of
Envirobase's high-performance waterborne coating system.

All three varnishes dry quickly, eliminating the need for flash drying between the applied coatings and avoiding the drying process
at the spray station.
In addition, the coating can be surface polished
in about 30 minutes.
Thanks to significantly shorter cycle times, these varnishes increase productivity and reduce energy costs
while guaranteeing the best possible appearance.

Daimler AG has approved PPG's new and upgraded matte varnishes – D8115 matte and D8117 semi-matt coatings for all of the company's passenger car products worldwide that are painted with matte paint

The two new varnishes use a unique two-component varnish refinish process
.
The process uses a high-gloss varnish as the head coat, followed by the immediate application of the second coat
on the basis of a mixture of two new varnishes, D8115 and D8117.
With this process, the repaired area not only matches the original color of the car body, but also ensures a flat matte paint application

Both products offer the end user great flexibility
to mix different varnish products to match the original matte paint of the car body.
