WACKER New materials at a glance

Wacker has successfully developed a new water-based silicone fluid emulsion, SILRESÖS BS 5137, which treats glass wool and rock wool with water repellency, as shown
    in Figure 1.

SILRES® BS 5137 silicone fluid emulsion is a market-proven upgrade of WACKER's proven SILRES® BS 5136 water-repellent agent containing reactive dimethicone
, an active ingredient for long-lasting hydrophobic treatment of mineral wool.
Compared to SILRES BS 5136, the new SILRES BS 5137 has an excellent emulsifier system that stabilizes fine-grained emulsions while preventing excessive viscosity or excessive hydrophilicity
    .
With almost no change in the active ingredient content, the viscosity of the emulsion product during use has decreased by 90%.

The active ingredient content of BS 5137 is as high as 50%, the distribution of active ingredients is uniform and stable, and it is well compatible with phenolic resin, which is a high-performance water-repellent agent, only 0.
    1%~0.
2% of the dried weight of finished mineral wool can make the mineral wool insulation material obtain ideal hydrophobic performance
    .
With this new hydrophobic, mineral wool manufacturers benefit from faster, more efficient and cost-effective hydrophobic treatment of insulation, easier mixing and dilution of products, and a more stable
    production process.

In addition, WACKER has developed a tin-free catalyst, ELASTOSIL?NEO, which can be used in
room-temperature crosslinked two-component silicone elastomers for mold making and encapsulation.
Since the beginning of this year, the European Union has imposed restrictions on the use of mold materials containing dibutyltin or dioctyltin
    .
According to EU regulations, such products with a tin content of more than 0.
1 grams may not be sold to private users or amateur craftsmen
    .
WACKER's new ELASTOSIL® NEO catalyst is tin-free and can be used effectively enough for large models after mixing while curing within 24 hours, helping commercial and industrial users to wean themselves
off tin in mold making or packaging processes.
