California Bill 65 proposes to add BBP to the list of carcinogens
Recently, the California Office of Environmental Protection (OEHHA) issued a notice to include butylbenzyl phthalate (BBP) in the California Act 65 carcinogenic list
.
BBP has good rubber and resin compatibility and strong solvation effect, and is often used as polyvinyl chloride plasticizer, adhesive, etc
.
California's 65 Carcinogen Identification Committee (CIC) placed it on its list of priority substances as early as 2011
.
The U.
S.
Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act also stipulates that the BBP content for toys and children's products should not be greater than 0.
1%.
OEHHA said that the inclusion of BBP in the list of carcinogens still needs to further collect a series of hazard identification data such as cancer biological testing, epidemiological research, genotoxicity testing, and other biochemical and physical and chemical data
related to the human body.
The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment invites all parties to send
the data by January 22, 2013.
