The European Union intends to approve 5 biocidal active substances A few days ago, the European Commission issued a notice to the World Trade Organization (WTO) Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade, saying that it will approve five chemicals as existing biocidal active substances
for use in
biocidal products.
The five substances are: cyclopropazole (CAS: 94361-06-5), which can be used for wood preservation; silicone gels used as insecticides, acaricides and other arthropod control products (CAS:112926-00-8); Insect repellent esters for insect repellents and attractants (CAS: 52304-36-6); Copper pyrithiium (CAS:14915-37-8) and 4,5-dichloro-2-n-octyl-3-isothiazolinone
for the preservation and peeling of liquids.
Among them, silica gel is the first substance
to be applied for authorization of existing active substances in biocidal products as nanomaterials.
It is reported that the adoption time of the proposal is expected to be January 2014, and the proposed effective date is January 2016
