    BP launches two new petrochemical feedstock production technologies Recently, BP launched two new petrochemical
    feedstock production technologies - SaaBre technology is a new route for the production of acetic acid from syngas as a feedstock, and Hummingbird technology can directly dehydrate ethanol to produce ethylene
    .

    The breakthrough in SaaBre technology is the direct conversion of syngas (carbon monoxide and hydrogen) into acetic acid, which can help avoid purifying carbon monoxide or buying methanol

    BP said the technology could significantly reduce variable production costs and improve capital efficiency
    compared to the traditional methanol carbonylation route to acetic acid.

    Hummingbird technology enables direct dehydration of ethanol to produce ethylene, which is simpler and less
    costly than existing ethanol-to-ethylene technologies.
