SABIC releases rail vehicle seating solutions
At ITP 2012, SABIC's Innovative Plastics business unit presented GRAMMER's new seatback frames and side panels for state-of-the-art rail vehicles, which comply with the European harmonized CEN
/TS 45445 standard for fire safety, to be introduced in 2015.
SABIC's new LEXANTM FST is a flame retardant, low-smoke and non-toxic copolymer that meets the requirements of the CEN/TS 45445-2 maximum hazard class (HL3).
In addition, LEXANTM FST polymers can be shaped using Grammer's existing processing equipment, which avoids a large capital investment; At the same time, it has excellent flowability, making large parts both easy to injection mold and aesthetically pleasing
.
Ilknur Gur, General Manager of SABIC's Innovative Plastics European Specialties Business Unit, said: "The new LEXANTM FST is the first material to date to meet the highest grade requirements of CEN/TS 45445 and is characterized by
design flexibility, color customization and excellent processability.
This partnership reaffirms the company's long-term commitment to the rail industry, and LEXANTM FST polymers is part of the company's commitment to helping customers exceed increasingly stringent safety requirements
.
