    SABIC showcases healthcare solutions

At the 2013 China International Medical Device Design and Technology Exhibition, SABIC showcased a diverse portfolio of medical material solutions, including ULTEMTMHU1004 resin, a polyetherimide (PEI) resin blend specifically for medical applications; SABIC full LNPTM antibacterial combination; and LEXANTMHFD resin, etc
    .
These programs help customers reduce the incidence of nosocomial infections and meet increasingly stringent medical technology requirements
    .

ULTEM HU1004 resin is a polyetherimide resin blend with strong hydrolytic stability, which can be selected for new complex applications and can meet the requirements
    of many different sterilization processes.
These methods include high-temperature steam sterilizers (up to 134°C), gamma radiation, and a new process suitable for cryogenic environments, hydrogen peroxide gas sterilization, all of which can damage the mechanical integrity, performance or aesthetics of the equipment, resulting in gradual degradation
    of the equipment.

The LNP antimicrobial portfolio can provide medical device manufacturers with a completely new solution to address patient and physician concerns
    about nosocomial infections.
SABIC's portfolio consists of 9 different antimicrobial grades from 4 product families, including: LEXANTMEXL copolymer, LEXAN polycarbonate (PC) resin, XENOYTM polycarbonate/polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) resin, and polypropylene (PP) resin
with or without glass fiber reinforcement.
These resins utilize silver-based antimicrobial technology
    .

LEXAN HFD resins offer medical device designers the opportunity to re-evaluate designs to reduce wall thickness and improve device potential performance
    with lower in-mold stress.
With these advantages, these new materials can be considered for a wide range of applications
, including electronics housings, disposables used in patient care, and diagnostic and monitoring devices.
