BASF launches the new beer filter aid Crosspure R
At the "2012 China International Beer and Beverage Manufacturing Technology and Equipment Exhibition" held recently, BASF launched Crosspure R
, a breakthrough sustainable solution for soilless filtration and stable treatment of beer.
Beer producers have long wanted to produce beer
with good taste, clarity and stability in an economical, safe, healthy and sustainable process.
At present, diatomaceous earth technology
is widely used in the beer industry.
Due to the disadvantages of diatomaceous earth on the environment, high treatment costs, health hazards due to improper disposal, unstable quality, and the introduction of metal components that may affect the taste of beer, the industry has been looking for alternatives to this filter aid for many years
.
Crosspure R is a synthetic, renewable polymer made of polyvinylpyrrolidone compounded with polystyrene designed to replace diatomaceous earth in beer filtration processes, providing beer producers with a "2-in-1" solution for beer filtration and stabilization in a single step
.
BASF also conducted an eco-economic analysis of Crosspure R, which was independently verified
by two international certification bodies based in Germany 。 The results show that Crosspure R not only effectively removes residues from beer and ensures a stable, good taste, aroma and appearance, but also has many sustainability advantages: it reduces the amount of solid waste to landfill by more than 99% and reduces energy consumption by 25%; At the same time, Crosspure R is renewable, has no disposal problems and eliminates health risks arising from contact with diatom dust; In addition, it has better performance and reduces life cycle costs by 20%.
Dr.
Jianjun Zhang, Senior Manager of Beer Market Business and Human Nutrition Application Technology, Greater China, BASF, BASF, said: "This technology represents a revolutionary breakthrough in beer manufacturing and opens up a new starting point
for beer filtration and stabilization technology in China.
"
BASF has partnered with Guangxi Zhujiang Beer Co.
, Ltd.
, a leading brewer in China, to complete the first commercial trial production
of Crosspure R in China.
" This not only helps us to improve the purity and taste of our beer, but also strengthens the company's 'green beer' production capacity and improves the sustainability
of beer production.
" Professor Li Huiping, chief engineer of Zhujiang Beer Group, said
.
In addition, the successful trial production has also laid a solid foundation
for the promotion and popularization of Crosspure R in China.
