Recently, PetroChina's southwest oil and gas field formulated China's first international standard in the field of natural gas, "Determination of total sulfur content by oxidized microcoulometric method", was unanimously approved by 21 member countries of the Natural Gas Technical Committee of the International Organization for Standardization and officially became an international standard

The total sulfur content of natural gas refers to the sum of
all sulfur compounds such as hydrogen sulfide in natural gas.
Hydrogen sulfide is a colorless, flammable, highly toxic gas
with rotten egg smell at low concentrations.
Sour natural gas must be desulfurized and purified, and the total sulfur content must be controlled within the mandatory national safety and environmental protection standards before it can be put into use
