Lanxess recently launched its "North American Mobility Day" for
the first time.
Held in Charlotte, North Carolina, the one-day event was themed "Advanced Technology Leads Sustainable Mobility," showcasing a range of high-tech solutions
.
Developed by LANXESS in Germany, the
AA-Class Concept Tire is made of the latest neodymium-based cis-butadiene rubber (Nd-PBR) technology, styrene-butadiene rubber (SSBR) and rubber additives, and has been tested by T-V S-D Company, one of the world's leading independent technical service organizations, and meets the Class A standards of the new EU Tyre Labelling Act in terms of rolling resistance and wet grip It is one of
the first tires in the world to reach the AA class standard.
Nd-PBR is used on tire tread and sidewall to help reduce rolling resistance and improve fuel efficiency; At the same time, it also has high wear resistance and plays an important role
in the manufacture of safer and more durable tires.
SSBR is mainly used in tread adhesives to help reduce rolling resistance and improve wet grip
.
In addition to tires, LANXESS is also committed to the development of lightweight plastics, such as the Durethan and Pocan brands for car bodies, coolant ducts, battery housings, steering wheels, pedals and pedal
frames.
These innovative materials enable the production of lighter plastic parts that replace metal parts such as steel and aluminum, thereby reducing fuel consumption and emissions
.
At the same time, these materials can simplify the assembly process for automotive manufacturers and suppliers, helping them save money
.
High-tech plastic parts currently account for 20% of automotive components, and this proportion is expected to continue to grow
in the future.
25 of LANXESS's 49 production sites worldwide produce series products for "green mobility"
.
Sales of these products amount to approximately 1.
5 billion euros ($2 billion), or 17 percent
of the group's total sales.
LANXESS expects this figure to increase to 2.
7 billion euros ($3.
5 billion)
by 2015.
This year's series of events began with the "China Mobility Day" in Shanghai in early September, the "Brazilian Rubber Day" in São Paulo on October 18, followed by the "Central and Eastern European Mobility Day" in Prague on November 22 and 23, and concluded with the "South Africa Mobility Day" in Port Elizabeth on November 27 and 28
.
